Making dreams come true

After an intensive period, at the beginning of 2021, Arjen and Lenja wanted grab their 2nd chance in life with both hands. Arjen wanted to become a winemaker, one of the first sentences he uttered after waking up from a coma, and so it happened. The choice for Italy in the beautiful hilly region of Marche was quickly made to start our adventure. It was an immediate hit when we visited the vineyard of hobby farmer Maurizio (former owner), located a few kilometers near the picturesque Roman town of Petritoli.

A beautiful farm with slopes on both sides full of vines and olive trees. Too good to be true and the feeling was immediately good, also for the former owner who built the vineyard and winery in 2009 and completely rebuilt the farmhouse from 1900. It was important to him and his family that his hard work continued. The vineyard was thus found, but then it only begins.

Persistence in craftsmanship,
perfection in taste.

Dominio Sognare con
Perseveranza & Piacere

After the necessary discussions with the broker and an extensive study of the Italian customs and way of doing business, we made an offer. And after some negotiation, our purchase, and the start of realizing our dream, was a fact. Because of the reason for this adventure and having to persevere and persevere if you want to do business abroad and Italy, we have named our estate “Dominio Sognare con Perseveranza & Piacere”, “dreaming with perseverance, perseverance and pleasure”

A place where dreams and fun come together, where we cannot escape simply working hard ourselves with some perseverance and perseverance. Our wine company “PERSEVERANZA”, as it is registered with the Italian Chamber of Commerce, covers the entire chain from grape growth to wine assessment. Where we, with our recruited wine professionals, work with heart and soul and develop beautiful full wines that can be drunk on any occasion and spicy olive oil that enriches every dish with taste. On the terrace during a summer evening a Pecorini or a Marche Rosso during a beautiful philosophical moment in front of the fireplace.

Farmers status

Buying a vineyard in Italy is no problem at all, but… if you, as a brand new company, want to be eligible for subsidies, schemes and/or discounts on agricultural equipment and supplies, obtaining farmer status is a requirement. In Italy this status is called IAP, Imprenditore Agricolo Professionale. We now have that IAP status and with Perseveranza we are officially a farmer and agricultural entrepreneur in Italy.

The past

Italian tradition
In Italy, the vendemmia, the grape harvest, is a sacred ritual of the early autumn, a Italian tradition. In years past, a good harvest was a symbol of well-being, prosperity and good luck as the winter approached. That symbolism is strong, even today, as Italians remain rooted to the land and the sight of grapes maturing, being harvested by hand and then transformed into fine wines continues to be life-affirming.

Vineyard & winery
Totally immersed in the countryside of region Marche, with a beautiful view over the green rolling hills and Sibillini Mountains, you can find a wonderful kept pruducing vineyard and a great winery, planted in 2009. The property of the boutique vineyard and winery covering approx. 45,000 sq.m. is located in a very panoramic location in the countryside surrounding Montefiore dell’Aso, Petritoli and Montegiberto, in the province of Fermo.

The vineyard and winery is located in a DOC area that has always been suited to growing grapes and producing quality wines.

In total this vineyard is 2.5 hectares of land growing grapes in this optimal climate and conditions, of which:

3 types of red grapes

3 types of white grapes

The winery itself was built by digging into a hillside in order to obtain a constant temperature to better preserve the product according to ancient methods. The cellar is on two floors, upstairs (under a large open portico) there is the grape crushing zone, while the ground floor has the areas for vinification and aging.

Olive grove
Besides the vineyard, the property has a 1 hectare olive grove with approximately 100 productive olive trees (Frantoio en Leccino olive)

The future

Although we are still making the final arrangements to be fully up and running with Perseveranza, we are already looking into the future of our winery. The 2022 wines are currently still maturing in the tanks in our winery (cantina). Nevertheless, we are already looking at pieces of land we can acquire to expand our vineyard and plant new vines. We are excited and it would be wonderful to start developing the indigenous, Marche native, white grape variety Garofanata on our wine estate.

The ambition is to grow a boutique vineyard and winery with around 10 hectares of vines and olive grove. We will also plant new olive trees in the spring of 2023 to be able to harvest more kilos of Frantoio and Leccino olives to make you our spicy virgin olive oil.

We welcome you when you are old enough!
